The housing scheme “Denggenhof“ in the city of Graz has approximately 1500 inhabitants. The community management project “Denggenhof“ was launched in 1999 to promote active and representative participation towards enabling all community members to meaningfully influence the decisions that affect their lives and improve their living situation. Citizens are considered as experts of their life situations and are empowered to implement innovative ideas according to their individual interests and skills.
Megaphon-Uni. Education without Barriers

The MAGAPHON-University enables social disadvantaged people to obtain eductaion at university level by providing a series of lectured tailored to the needs and interests of the target group. All lectures are free of charge. The idea behind is \"the exchange of knowledge at the same level\" between professors teaching at university and socially disadvantaged (older) people.

The aim of this project is to encourage men entering the third age as well as “young“ senior citizens to get involved as voluntary “social helpers“ for men with mental illnesses and disorders. Basically, social helpers support men with mental illnesses and disorders to participate actively in society and to promote their healthy attributes. Due to their new task, the prior target group also plays an active role in the community and social isolation can be prevented.
Promoting Healthy Ageing in Rural and Semi-Urban Communities in Austria (Lebenswerte Lebenswelten)

"Lebenswerte Lebenswelten für ältere Menschen" is a best-practice model of community-based health promotion for the elderly commissioned by the Austrian Health Promotion Foundation. The three-year-project's aim is to develop, explore and evaluate innovative approaches or policies for community-development and empowerment of elderly population groups to improve their health-related quality of life and participation in social activities. The project started in March 2003 in 13 Styrian communities located in two districts. These districts differ in two criteria: population income and percentage of elderly people.
Ripe Apples (Reife Äpfel)

Ripe Apples is a health promotion project for older women in rural regions. Due to changed living conditions an increasing number of people, and specially women, live to a ripe old age. So our community is getting older. The embedding in a social system, like family, work or clubs guarantees a higher quality of aging. But existing familial and social networks gets more and more lost. Therefore, women need assistance for the step from the second into the third period of life, into the post-professional and/or into the empty-nest phase. The project realised meeting points for women in communities in Styria, where women can meet .

Computer courses for women 50+
Lithuania
80-hour computer course for elderly women, including 40 hours of theory and 40 hours of practice. The courses are arranged free of charge using the funding of projects. After acquiring basic IT skills women can search for job offers, find the necessary information, pay their bills via the internet, communicate with friends and relatives by e-mail.

60 hour (30+30) free-of-charge course for active women wiling to get a job, change a job or start their own business. Basic knowledge on writing a CV, application letter, suggestive speaking, body language; types of business companies and methods of setting up a company, writing a business plan.
